Week 9

This week I worked further on blocking my ogre and taking it to a blocking plus stage.  It's broken down mostly on two's.  Last week my mentor had a lot to say about the jump section lacking enough weight and overlap so this week I really tried to work that stuff in.

Week 8

This week we started blocking a new assignment.  We got the option to use the ogre rig this time if we wanted so I decided to give it a crack.  We have two weeks to do blocking this time around so this is the rough blocking pass.

Week 7

This week I wrapped up my jumping assignment that I started last week.  There a still a couple of revision notes that I need to address before the end of term but this was the final version I submitted for the week.

Week 6

This week we started blocking on a new cat assignment, I choose to do a cat jumping across rocks.

Week 5

So week 5 I did a refining and polishing pass on my cat.  I had a couple of small notes from my mentor which I then addressed and this was the final version.

Week 4

This week I blocked my advanced cat walk. I choose to animate this to practice getting weight into slower moving action. I think the overall idea is simple but has some nice difficult issues that need to be nailed for it to be successful.

Week 3

This week we did a revision on our vanilla cat walk and started planning our more advanced cat walk.

My new assignment will draw closely from an 8 second shot I took from BBC Big Cat Diary. These are planning sketches from that video reference.

Week 2

Week two assignment was to animate a vanilla cat walk.

Week 1

So this week was the first week of Introduction to Animals and Creatures animation. My mentor is Kevin OHara who is a kick ass Pixar animator who apparently is the horse animation guru.

Yesterday I headed to the zoo to observe, sketch and video the animals for our assignments. FYI Melbourne zoo is pretty awesome! Other than that I've been updating tools and getting used to the cat rig. Above are some poses I've done with the rig, feel free to comment :)

Hi guys, this is just a test post.

A few people asked me to blog as I do the AM master class, just going to use my old AM blog and continue on.

Class officially starts next week and I should be blogging at least once a week about the assignments and how I'm tracking in general. Please feel free to drop by and comment and give critiques (even if your not an animator) in fact it would be appreciated to hear your feedback!!

Locked Out

They locked us out out of school 2 1/2 days ago :(
The internet just isn't that special place anymore without AM.

Today it's time to do some more revision on my first dialogue shot from term 3. I think I've spent more time fixing it than I did making it originaly!! Need to have it done by the end of the break so I can submit it for the AM Winter Showcase, probably won't make the grade but I guess you'll never know if you don't try.

Also started packing on Sunday even though I won't be moving ou until at least April but I really hate packing so figure spread it way out over the next few months :D
Can't way to go but still shit loads of work to get through between now and then. I think if I survuve term 6 I'm capable of working in the industry.
